The Houghton County Controller's Office will be accepting applications for a Contractual Electrical Inspector. Applicants must have a valid driver's license and be able to become registered with the State of Michigan, as required by Act 54 of 1986. Qualifications and applications are available online at www.houghtoncounty.net and will be accepted until noon on Friday, June 7, 2013 in the Houghton County Controller's office, 401 E.  Houghton County issues building permits for all locations of the county except the City of Houghton and the Village of Calumet.
Current codes in effect: 2009 Michigan Building(03/09/11); 2009 Michigan Residential(03/09/11); 2009 Michigan Mechanical(10/21/10); 2009 Michigan Plumbing(08/20/10); 2008 National Electrical Code(12/02/09); 2009 Michigan Uniform Energy Code (03/09/11).
All permits obtained shall conform to the above listed codes. Code books are available from our office on the fifth floor of the the County Courthouse.
