The Houghton County
Equalization Department advises and assists the Board of
Commissioners in equalizing property tax assessments for
the entire County. The Equalization Department conducts
annual sales and appraisal studies while conforming with
state policies. The studies are used to equalize
assessed values for each class of property in each of
the local units of government in Houghton County. The
department also assists local assessors and treasurers
with information concerning assessments and tax rolls.
The Houghton County equalization department has tax
rolls and tax maps for each unit of government within
the County for use. Fees are charged for copies and
research projects.
